Western Digital 1TB My Passport Portable Drive Now Available

Western Digital announced that they are now shipping 750GB and 1 TB versions of its popular My Passport line of external hard drives. Both drives are bus (USB 2.0) powered so it makes it easy to take all your content with you. The one TB version goes for $299.99 and the 750GB model is a hundred dollars less at $199.99.

On my recent vacation I ran out of space on my internal drive and had to make some decisions on what movies to take. The kids wanted their movies and my wife want something else. This device is large enough to hold more than 100 DVDs so you don't have to make any compromises. Just one word of caution, some airlines do not allow you to use external drives onboard so before they close the cabin door make sure you copy over the movies you ant to watch for that leg. According to WD the 1TB version will hold: Up to 200,000 digital photos Up to 250,000 songs (MP3) Up to 25,000 songs (uncompressed CD quality) Up to 76 hours of Digital Video (DV) Up to 380 hours of DVD quality video Up to 120 hours of HD video
