LG to Show UHD TV with Quantum Dot Technology at 2015 CES
We first saw Quantum Dot technology at the Sony booth a few years ago. A quantum dot is a nanocrystal (2 to 10 nanometers) made of semiconductor materials that are small enough to exhibit quantum mechanical properties. The nano-sized dots produce vivid colors which enhance the picture capability of LED based HDTVs.
From the LG Press Release:
“Quantum dot’s vibrant and vivid color reproduction capabilities brings LG’s LCD TVs to the next level when it comes to picture quality,” said In-kyu Lee, senior vice president and head of the TV and monitor division at the LG Electronics Home Entertainment Company. “The addition of ULTRA HD TV with quantum dot technology to our TV lineup, positioned under our award-winning OLED TVs, further establishes LG as a leading provider of the most diverse and innovative TV display technologies in the industry.”

It's different to see LG coming to the forefront of TVs lately. It seems there is a bit of a slow down in the coming age of TV technology. We were use to seeing something extraordinary every year. It doesn't seem like anyone is doing that except LG. I use to be a Sony guy, now I have a plasma from Panasonic. These used to be the top people in the business. Is it me or is anyone else still feel funny about buying a LG product? I associated them with lower quality products but I guess I'm gonna have to reconsider. Happy New year!
