Podcast #476: Costco Round-up 2011

The HT Guys and the HDTV and Home Theater Podcast celebrated a 6 year anniversary just a few weeks ago. Hitting a mark like that got us to reminisce about the good old days of HDTV. The days when CRT and rear projection sets dominated store shelves. The days before 3D, Blu-ray and 1080p. Back in those days, we used to occasionally visit our local Costco to see what deals we could find.

Pico Projectors are a class of projectors that can be held in your hand. About the size of a smart phone, they are ideal for travelers and college students.

Podcast #472: Crossover Frequency

We got a Twitter question from a listener about how to set the Crossover Frequency for his speakers and subwoofer, so we thought it might be worth while to explain the concept for everyone. For some this may be review, but if you’ve struggled with crossover, or have just left it set at the default because you didn’t know what to do with it, this is for you.

Podcast #471: Hannspree 42 inch 120Hz LCD HDTV

Back when we started this podcast (six years ago on Thursday) we never dreamt of being able to purchase a 42 inch LCD for around $460. And if you could would it be any good? Today that dream has come true with the Hannspree ST42DMSB 42 inch 120Hz LCD HDTV. As you would expect with a 42 inch TV at this price point there aren’t a ton of bells and whistles. What you get is a solid basic HDTV that can be used in your main or secondary room without breaking the bank.
